Day 27 - You will Be Heard, Promise- Daily Inspirational Verses from Real Life

1 John 5:14 - (ESV): "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us."

God's promises are awesome, but some require patience, perseverance and strength.  True, God gives all those things to you, but there are a few promises where it happens RIGHT NOW.

He hears you.  He hears you right now.

There is a catch.  You have to be asking within His will.  Most people tell me that this is a conundrum.  If you are asking in "His" will, of course he will give you it, since it is what he wants to begin with.

If this were true, it would be a bummer.

Well, of course it is true. But that is not what this verse is all about.  How do you act within God's will?  It most assuredly does not mean do everything God wants without mistakes.  That is not possible.  What it does mean is that if you are acting because of your faith in God, and his son, then he is listening.  No matter if your right or wrong, since you are trying to do his will, he will be there for you.  Imagine that.

The God who is real; the one who created everything, will listen to you.

Good News for today.  Your God is listening to the power of your voice.

Day 26 - Check into Hotel Jesus - Daily Inspirational Verses from Real Life

2 Timothy 1:7 - (ESV): "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."

Frequently I have been told that all things are answered in the bible, and frequently I have thought, "where is the mention of airplanes, buses and the Internet in the bible."

The truth is, however, we are encouraged to apply the lessons in the bible to all other areas of our lives. In Luke 16:8 we are told that people of the world are better at looking toward the future than the sons of light.  In other words, they, the unsaved, plan for money on earth better than we plan for treasures in heaven.  As you can see from this example, applying the bible to our immediate lives and to our spiritual lives is both valid and beneficial.

So what does 2 Timothy 1:7 actually mean?  Paul is telling us to be bold about our faith in Jesus.  He reinforces this lesson by telling us that we were not born to Jesus to be afraid or ashamed of the Gospel message that brought us to light to begin with. That in fact, the Holy Spirit indwelt us at our acceptance of Jesus, gives us the Power as well as the Love and Self Control necessary to pass the message on.

This same formula works in our real lives.  If you are responding to the call of God in your daily life, work and relationships, as we should all be doing, then the same spirit will reward our faith with Power, Love and Self-Control.

Wow.  We really do have it all.  Just check into the House of the Lord, and you can wield the tools promised.

I was Born for This - Gifts and Talents

1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV) - “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

2012 was a hard year.  Heck, the last few years have been hard, and financially it does not look like anything is going to change for the better anytime soon.

Yet, once again, Everything has Changed.

After 15 hours on her own at the karate school, my daughter, Barbi, in red pants above, said to me when we asked how it went, "I was born for this."

In the middle of difficulty, people showed up to help.

In the middle of hyper busyness, she stepped up and made it happen.

In the middle of dozens and dozens of people needing her to be the karate instructor she is; to be the servant teacher she is, all she could do was know she was born for this, and love the results.

That is the power of the gifts of God, when you work within your calling.

The is the nature of the help that the Spirit brings you when you walk with God.

But there is far more to this.  She not only met and exceeded her calling, by so doing, she relighted the fire of my own calling.

Yes indeed, we were born for this.

This is the second time in my life that my daughter has brought me to the foot of the cross, and reminded me of just how awesome my God is.

Day 6 - Indomitable Spirit - Daily Inspirational Verses from Real Life

Psalm 18:32-34 - (NIV1984)

"It is God who arms me with  strength and makes my way  Perfect.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.

He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze."

Everyday of my life in boy scouts, ROTC, and in every leadership course in business and martial arts, I learned that I had to pull myself up by my bootstraps.  That it was up to me, and failure was not an option.  That perseverance is a mind set, and act of will.

And that is 100% true, perseverance is a mind set, and act of will.

But then a pastor pointed out to me that two of the "Tenets of Tang Soo Do," one of the martial arts my family practices, had two attitudes dealing with the path of my life.  Perseverance was the first word and the last was Indomitable Spirit. He told me that Indomitable Spirit was NOT an act of will, but rather the result of recognizing that I my path was made straight by the Lord, and that I could not lose, if it was on his path that I walked. That when I failed, I had absolute certainty that I had only failed, not lost, because standing with me, in front of me, and all around me, was God, making my path his path.

Just to make sure you know that this verse in not all about spiritual growth, and really about the real world, it goes on to tell you that he will grow and guide you Physically.

If you are his, and you know it, your strength can be multiplied by Indomitable Spirit, if you just stand up and claim it.
